The XXIV round of the Misli Premier League was marked by a double anniversary for "Shamakhi". Sport24.az reports with reference to the Professional Football League's website that the team, which previously bore the names "Khazar University", "Inter" and "Keshla", won its 300th victory in the Premier League and its 400th in history.
"Shamakhi" rejoiced with a score of 1:0 in the away match with "Sumgayit". The team, which played its 717th match in the top division of the Azerbaijan championship, left the field with 3 points for the 300th time. 175 of the victories were recorded at home, 125 away.
"Shamakhi" is the 3rd team in the history of the tournament to win 300 or more victories. Only "Garabagh" and "Neftchi" have won more games. The team, which debuted as "Khazar University" in the 1999/2000 season, won its first victory on November 21, 1999 in a home match against "Khazar" (Sumgayit).
"Shamakhi", which has 60 victories in the Azerbaijan Cup, 16 in European Cups, 16 in the first league, 8 in the "Commonwealth Cup", defeated its opponent for the 400th time, taking into account all tournaments.
