For the second time in the history of the men's World Cup, a woman will referee the match.
Sports.Biz reports that the match between the Czech Republic and South Africa in the second round of Group A has been entrusted to Tori Penso from the USA. She will be assisted by her compatriots Brooke Mayo and Katrin Nesbitt.
The match will start today, June 18, at 20:00 Baku time.
Note that French referee Stéphanie Frappart refereed the Germany - Costa Rica match at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. The match, which Germany won 4-2, was the first match in the history of the men's World Cup to be refereed by a woman.
