Portugal captain and forward Cristiano Ronaldo addressed the fans after Portugal's opening match at the 2026 World Cup.
Portugal drew 1-1 with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
"This was not the start we wanted, but we are STILL VERY far from the end. Let's focus on the next game," Ronaldo wrote on his X social media account.
The match against the Democratic Republic of the Congo was historic for the 41-year-old forward: Ronaldo started the game in the starting lineup and became the first European to play in 12 major international tournaments for his national team. Portugal will face Uzbekistan in their next group stage match, scheduled for Wednesday, June 23.
