The president of the Saudi Arabia Football Federation, Yasir Al-Mishal, has resigned after the national team's unsuccessful performance in the D&C-2026. According to Sport24.az, he announced his decision on social media, taking responsibility for the team's last-place finish in the group.
The Saudi Arabia team drew with Uruguay (1-1) and Cape Verde (0-0) and lost to Spain 0-4, finishing last in Group H with two points.
Note that Al-Mishal had been in the post for 7 years and played an active role in Saudi Arabia's bid to host the 2034 World Cup.
