The Professional Football League (PFL) has explained the reasons for moving the final match of the Azerbaijan Cup of the current season to the Mehdi Huseynzade Sumgayit City Stadium.
Sanan Abdullayev, the Media and Marketing Director of the organization, stated this in a statement to "Report".
The PFL official explained this with several factors:
"You know that reconstruction work has been carried out at the Mehdi Huseynzade Sumgayit City Stadium. Several matches of the "Sumgayit" team, as well as European Cup matches, were held at this stadium. As for the Cup final, we would like to note that all arenas in our country that meet the standards and are ready are considered potential candidates for hosting the final. The factors such as the reconstruction work, the holding of European Cup games here, and at the same time, the fact that the city of Sumgayit is a "sports city" played an important role in moving the decisive meeting to the Mehdi Huseynzade Sumgayit City Stadium."
S. Abdullayev said that they hope that the stands will be completely full at that meeting:
"We hope that the fans will witness an exciting final game. We will also try to take all steps to ensure that the match is held at a good level."
It should be noted that the final match of the Azerbaijan Cup will be held on June 1.
