Julian Ryerson, a defender for Borussia Dortmund and the Norwegian national team, attended a reception with King V Harald wearing slippers.
Idman.Biz reports that the 89-year-old monarch received the members of the Norwegian team at his palace.
While all the other players came to the meeting in white sport shoes, Ryerson opted for a simpler choice and wore slippers.
Note that King V Harald is the first monarch named Harald to ascend to the Norwegian throne since the early 12th century.
