Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of 18-year-old Dutch midfielder Shaun Steur from Ajax.
Sport.Biz reports that the player has signed a five-year deal with the English club for an undisclosed fee. He will wear the number 14 jersey.
Steur is Newcastle's third signing in the current transfer window, following French goalkeeper Evan Jaune and Ivorian winger Bazuman Toure. Last season, the midfielder won the Abdülhak Nuri Cup as the best young talent in the Ajax academy.
"It's an amazing feeling to be here. This is a giant Premier League club, and playing in the best league in the world has always been my dream. I felt at home when I joined Ajax at the age of seven, but when a club like Newcastle is interested in you, it's hard to say no," Steur is quoted as saying by the club's press service.
