Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has admitted that he does not like football statistics and does not pay attention to records. Sport24.az reports that the star footballer made a statement to ESPN about this:
"People pay a lot of attention to statistics these days, but I personally don't like them that much. I never had the idea that I absolutely have to make a productive pass or score a goal in order to break a record or surpass someone. I live and enjoy football. Being an important player and appearing on the field makes me happy.
The best season of my career? I don't know, it's a difficult question. It all depends on which perspective you look at the issue from. There have been years when we achieved great success. We reached the final of the Copa America with the national team, and won the Champions League with Barcelona. In 2012, I scored approximately 91 goals. Which season should I choose now? Of course, I don't play for that and statistics never bother me. I never aimed to break records or surpass anyone. It is difficult to choose a year. But fortunately, I have had many good seasons."
It should be noted that the 38-year-old Argentine has played for PSG, Inter Miami and Barcelona during his career. At the club level, he played 962 games, scored 787 goals and made 381 productive passes.
