Spanish national team player Lamin Yamal has repeated the historic record by scoring in the match against Saudi Arabia in the second round of Group H of the 2026 World Cup.
Idman.Biz reports, citing "Opta Sports", that Yamal has become the second player in the history of the World Cups to score in a match before the age of 19, 68 years later.
So far, only Brazilian legend Pele has achieved this feat, doing so at the age of 17 at the 1958 World Cup. Lamin Yamal, meanwhile, has matched Pele's achievement by scoring at the age of 18 in the match against Saudi Arabia.
Note that Spain won the match 4-0 against Saudi Arabia.
