France captain Kilian Mbappe was unable to score in the 4:1 win over Norway in the third round of the World Cup 2026 group stage.
Sports.Biz reports that the striker had previously scored in three consecutive World Cup games.
In the 2022 World Cup final against Argentina (3:3, 2:4 on penalties), Mbappe scored a hat-trick. Then, in the first round of the current tournament, he scored two goals against Senegal (3:1) and in the second round against Iraq (3:0), he repeated this achievement. The striker's streak ended in the match against Norway - he couldn't score, but made two assists.
The match ended with a 4:1 win for France. Didier Deschamps' team earned nine points and took first place in Group I, ahead of Norway (six points). France's opponent in the 1/16 finals will be determined after the games on June 27.
