The training camp in Georgia was a great experience for the Azerbaijani U-17 girls' national team.
This was stated by Khanlar Aliyev, the coach of the Azerbaijani women's national team.
The experienced specialist spoke about the preparation process.
"New players were invited to the training camp. We had a chance to look at the players born in 2010-2011 who had not been involved before. We even invited one player born in 2012. 7 players wore the U-17 national team uniform for the first time. We gave everyone a chance in this camp, and it was a great experience for them. I can say that we have gained 3-4 players from the current players for the European Championship to be held in March," he said in an interview with report.az.
He shared his thoughts on the test matches (0:4, 0:6) held against the Georgian team of the corresponding age groups during the training camp:
"The Georgian national team mostly played with players born in 2009-2010. In the first match, we had four players born in 2009 in the squad, one of whom was injured in the first minute. Due to the injury, he could not participate in either the games or the training and finished the camp early. Even a one-year difference in the lower age groups shows itself physically. Some players who played their first games were nervous, and this also affected the score. We prepared better for the second match, the children fought, and we created scoring opportunities. But since the majority of our team consisted of those born in 2010-2011, we eventually lost to the opponent in terms of strength."
