If the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team does not resign, we will take action ourselves. Sport24.az reports that this was stated by AFFA Secretary General Jahangir Farajullayev in a statement to journalists.
He spoke about the DÇ-2026 qualifying match against the Icelandic national team today:
"This result is disrespectful to the Azerbaijani people by the national team's head coach, Fernando Santos. Such a defeat is unacceptable. We are waiting for a report on this defeat. He failed to prepare the team for the game."
It should be noted that the Iceland - Azerbaijan match ended with a 5:0 victory for the home team. (Report)
