Interview of AZERTAC with Gabala's Congolese footballer Domi Massumu
- Gabala became the champion in the First League last season and returned to the Premier League after a one-year break. How would you comment on your success?
- Last season was very successful for us. We secured the championship ahead of schedule. It happened even sooner than I expected. I also became the top scorer in the league with 16 goals and received an individual award. It was a double joy for me. The achievements we achieved both collectively and individually in the past season are invaluable. Greater challenges await us ahead.
- Did you expect to be the top scorer in the First League?
- A striker's job is to score goals. Statistics are important for a football player. I want to continue my goals in the Premier League as well. The key to all success is hard work.
- What are your goals as a team in the new season?
- This season will be even more difficult because the league is different. We must set high goals for ourselves and work to the best of our ability to achieve them.
- Do you think Gabala has the potential to be among the medalists in the upcoming season?
- The team has already started preparing for the new season and we will determine possible goals. We will work intensively to achieve our desire. Of course, we want to be at the top in the new season. The success we achieve, as well as qualifying for the European Cups, will give us pleasure.
- You have played 3 games for the Congo national team. Can your successful performance in Azerbaijan make you a permanent member of the national team?
- The head coach decides on the call-up of football players to the national team. I am always ready to play for the national team. It is a proud feeling to play in the main national team of my country.
- What are your impressions of Azerbaijan and the city of Gabala, which your team represents?
- Azerbaijan is a wonderful country. True, I haven't been able to go to many places in Gabala. I have been to Tufandag, a number of interesting restaurants. It's a great feeling to live here.
