Italian football club Inter has continued its historic streak related to the World Cup finals at the 2026 World Cup.
Sport.Biz reports that thanks to the final reaching of Argentine striker Lautaro Martines, at least one Inter player will participate in the decisive match of the 12th World Cup in a row. This streak has been going on since 1982.
Lautaro played a crucial role in Argentina's path to the final. He distinguished himself in the last minutes of the semi-final match against England, giving his team a 2:1 victory.
The similar streak of Bayern has come to an end. At least one player from the Munich club participated in the final of each of the 11 World Cups held from 1982 to 2022.
In the semi-final stage of the 2026 World Cup, England, represented by Harry Kane from Bayern, lost to Argentina, and France, where Michael Olise and Dayo Upamekano played, lost to Spain. As a result, for the first time in 44 years, no player from the Munich club will participate in the World Cup final.
