FIFA President Gianni Infantino has revealed that he is in regular contact with US President Donald Trump during the 2026 World Cup.
Sport.Biz reports that in an interview with "Blue Sport", the Swiss official said the two men speak on the phone almost every day.
"We are in constant contact. We talk almost every day. He is happy and enjoys the tournament. He watches all the games on TV," Infantino said.
The FIFA president emphasized that Trump's absence from stadiums so far is not related to security concerns.
"No, no. I think he has other things to do. If he came to the stadium, people would ask: 'What is he doing at the stadium when so many things are happening in the world?' I am always in touch with him and the government, which is doing a great job organizing the World Cup," he added.
Infantino also expressed hope that Donald Trump will attend the final match on July 19. According to him, if the plans do not change, the FIFA president and the US leader will jointly present the trophy to the world champion.
