Only four players in the history of the World Championship have scored a double in their debut match.
Sports.Business reports that all of these players achieved this at the 2026 World Championship.
The first is American Folarin Balogun (on June 12 against Paraguay), the second is Swedish Yasin Ayari (on June 14 against Tunisia), the third is New Zealand's Elijah Cast (on June 15 against Iran), and the fourth is Norwegian Erling Holland (on June 16 against Iraq).
Such cases did not occur in the previous 22 World Championships.
