"Gabala" Football Academy, which has been operating since 2005, has suspended its operations. Sport24.az reports that this was announced by the club's press service.
It was stated that over the past 20 years, the academy has produced hundreds of talented young football players for the country's football, and played an important role in the promotion of dozens of players to the Azerbaijani national teams in various age groups.
"Over these years, the academy has contributed to the development of youth football in our country, the discovery of talents in the regions, and their integration into the professional football environment. However, we regret to announce that due to current financial difficulties, the activities of "Gabala" Football Academy are temporarily limited. The comprehensive activities we have carried out to eliminate the financial problems that started last season, the financial assistance provided, as well as the long-term dedication of our employees, are unfortunately not enough to operate at full capacity. This decision was not easy for us."
It was noted that the club's goal is to restore the academy's activities more strongly in the future by creating a stable financial environment again and to expand development opportunities for young football players:
"We express our deep gratitude to all the coaches, staff, and especially to all the young football players whom the parents entrusted to us, trusting us, who have worked hard in our academy for years."
