The France-Spain match at the 2026 World Cup semi-finals will begin with a minute of silence for the victims of the terror attack in Nice.
Sport.Biz reports that French President Emmanuel Macron has announced this.
"Ten years after the tragic events of July 14, 2016, a minute of silence will be observed before the France-Spain match in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack in Nice.
We thank the FIFA president for responding to the request of France and all the French who initiated this initiative. We will never forget", Macron wrote on social media.
The terrorist attack occurred during the celebration of Bastille Day. A 31-year-old man drove a truck into a crowd of people watching a fireworks display, killing 86 people.
The France-Spain match at the 2026 World Cup semi-finals is scheduled for July 14. The referee will blow the starting whistle at 23:00.
