British Labor Party MP Noah Lou has asked FIFA to lift the ban on England defender Carrell Kuansa.
The player was given a direct red card in the World Cup 2026 round of 16 match against Mexico (3:2) for a rough tackle on Mexican defender Jesus Gallardo.
"I am sure you are aware that in the World Cup match between England and Mexico, our right-back Carrell Kuansa received a red card for a rough tackle on a Mexican player. I believe that Carrell Kuansa was rightly given a red card and that the rules of refereeing should be applied consistently, but I also believe that it would be fair to postpone his disqualification until after this World Cup."
We know that a similar situation occurred in this tournament, when US striker Folarin Balogun received a red card in the round of 16 against Bosnia and Herzegovina (2:0). The integrity of any major international tournament depends not only on the players and officials adhering to the rules, but also on these rules being applied equally to all participating countries.
I am sure that we cannot justify a situation where one player's disqualification is lifted, while another player's is not lifted in very similar circumstances.
In a time when our multilateral system and international rules-based order are under threat, I urge you to take this matter seriously. I look forward to hearing from you and your decision", - quotes HuffPost Loudan.
Earlier, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee had suspended the one-match ban of US striker Folarin Balogun, who received a red card in the round of 16 match against Bosnia and Herzegovina (2:0) at the 2026 World Cup.
