In the voting, Valverde surpassed Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, who scored two goals and provided one assist in a 5-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who scored two goals and provided one assist in a 5-2 game against Chelsea, and Bayern Munich striker Michael Olise, who scored two goals and provided one assist in a 6-1 victory over Atalanta.
