Chelsea's head coach Enzo Maresca applied a special tactic in the last game against Arsenal to neutralize the strength of the London team's corner kicks.
Idman.Biz reports that Chelsea's plan was successful and is already being copied by other teams.
Arsenal is the team that has scored the most goals from corner kicks this season and makes it difficult for the goalkeeper to intervene with the chaos it creates in the penalty area. But Maresca's plan broke this scenario.
Maresca pulled the front three (attack line) forward during Arsenal's corner kick and kept them behind for a possible counter-attack. This forced Arsenal's wing defenders to stay behind. As a result, the penalty area was less crowded and Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was able to easily pick up the ball.

Although this approach seems simple, it was effective: both defense was facilitated and Arsenal's powerful "weapon" was neutralized. Interestingly, Chelsea scored a goal in that game from a corner kick - with a header by Trevoh Chalobah.

It seems that Arsenal needs to develop more creative corner kicks in the next stage.
