The Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) has issued a statement confirming that it has asked FIFA to investigate the events that occurred before the national team's match against Mexico (0:2).
Sport.Biz reports that earlier, the media reported that Mexican fans made incessant noise near the hotel of the Ecuadorian team and that the players received threats before the 1/16 final match.
"Regarding the events of the match with Mexico, the Federation has sent an official complaint to FIFA, demanding a thorough investigation of the events that occurred before and during the match, including those that could compromise the safety of our fans and players. This is the right and official step to clarify any situation related to this big game.
Regarding the new coaching staff, the Federation prioritizes the search for a new national team coach. This decision is taken seriously and deliberately, with the aim of creating a competitive project in the medium and long term," the Ecuadorian Football Federation said in a statement on its social media account.
