Ronnie Stam, who won the Dutch championship with the Dutch club "Twente" in 2010, has been sentenced to 7 years in prison on charges of drug trafficking and money laundering.

According to the source, he was involved in smuggling 700 kilograms of cocaine. The sentence was lighter than the 13 years in prison requested by the prosecution. The court determined that not all charges were proven.
Stam's brother was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. He is in hiding and believed to be in Dubai. He was previously sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for similar crimes.
The brothers were involved in drug trafficking in 2020 and 2021. They were detained on June 10, 2024.
