Former Côte d'Ivoire striker Didier Drogba has criticized the refereeing in his national team's World Cup 2026 round of 16 match against Norway.
Sport.Biz reports that the match was held at the "AT&T" stadium (Arlington, Texas, USA), with Jesus Valenzuela as the main referee. Norway won the match 2-1.
"Injustice. No penalty for Nicolas Pepe, what the hell is VAR for?!", Drogba wrote on his social media page.
Drogba's discontent stems from an incident in the 78th minute of the match, which took place in the Norwegian penalty area. African striker Nicolas Pepe received a pass from Eli Wahi and collided with a Norwegian defender. The referee did not react to the incident.
