Details of the decision to revoke the disqualification of US striker Folarin Balogun have been revealed.
Sport.Biz reports that the decision was made by Mohammed Al-Kamali, the chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee from the United Arab Emirates, single-handedly.
According to "The Times", although the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has 18 members, the other 17 did not participate in the decision and were not consulted on the matter.
FIFA annulled the one-match ban imposed on Balogun for the red card he received in the 2026 World Cup round of 16 match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, which ended in a 2-0 win for the US.
This decision allowed the forward to play in the round of 16 match against Belgium, which the US lost 1-4.
US President Donald Trump confirmed that he had spoken with FIFA President Gianni Infantino about the matter.
