Former Uruguay striker Diego Forlan is close to becoming the head coach of the country's U-20 team.
Sport.Biz reports that the Uruguay Football Association is in talks with the 47-year-old specialist. If an agreement is reached, Forlan will not only coach the U-20 team but also temporarily lead the main national team in friendly matches.
Association president Ignacio Alonso said that conceptual and financial issues between the parties have not yet been fully agreed upon.
The contract is expected to be in force until March-April 2027, when the leadership elections of the Uruguay Football Association will be held.
Note that Diego Forlan has previously coached Uruguayan clubs "Penyarol" and "Atenas".
