Diego Forlan has become the new head coach of the Uruguay national team.
Sport.News reports that the legend of Uruguayan football will replace Marcelo Bielsa in this position.
Uruguay was unable to advance from the group at the 2026 World Cup, earning only two points. As a result, the team parted ways with head coach Marcelo Bielsa.
The 47-year-old Forlan will be in charge of the team on an interim basis until March 2027. The player, who ended his playing career in 2019, has previously managed "Penyarol" in 2020 and "Atenas" in 2021.
