Dick Advocaat, the head coach of the Curaçao national team, commented on the 1:7 defeat to Germany in the first round of Group E of the 2026 World Cup.
İdman.Biz reports that the Dutch specialist said his team gave their opponent several easy goals to score.
"The next match will be completely different. We think about each game separately. We gave Germany two or three easy goals to score. I think a 1:4 score would have been a more fair result", - Advocaat said in a statement to FIFA's YouTube channel.
The 78-year-old specialist also commented on the emotions he experienced before and after the match, especially during the playing of the anthem:
"It was mainly related to the Curaçao people feeling joy again. Maybe my age had some influence on this. Sometimes I have to keep my emotions under control, because I don't like it that much".
Note that Curaçao will play their next match in the World Cup against Ecuador on June 21.
