Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has made a strong statement about the need for large-scale reforms in global football.
Idman.Biz reports that he claims the current management system is outdated and does not reflect the realities of modern sports.
De Laurentiis stated that "football institutions are outdated, incredibly outdated, and they are only interested in maintaining power, while we are treated like commodities".
He emphasized that football belongs not to a few countries, but to the whole world, which means that the approach to its organization should be completely different.
"We need to understand the financing problems," added the Napoli president.
De Laurentiis is convinced that the field needs to be rebuilt.
"We have to start from scratch, get rid of everything old. There are endless rules and regulations. We claim to be an industry leader, but we act as part of a vast bureaucratic system where everything is controlled by two big personalities. This is sad, anachronistic and unreal," he stressed.
