An investigation has been launched into the controversial goal scored by England football team midfielder Jude Bellingham in the match against Norway.
Sport.Biz reports that FIFA's automatic offside detection system did not record any external interference with the ball at the time of the goal.
It is stated that the sensors inside the high-tech ball track every touch. The system assists referees in making decisions related to possible offside, handball, and other controversial episodes.
The data from the ball is transmitted to the video assistant referees in real-time.
Note that the England national team defeated Norway 2-1 in extra time in the 1/4 finals of the 2026 World Cup. Both goals for England were scored by Jude Bellingham.
