"Chelsea" has held preliminary talks with Xabi Alonso this week regarding the appointment of a head coach. The "Mail" publication reports this, according to Sport24.az.
According to the source, the Spanish specialist has confirmed that he is open to a long-term project. However, the London club is also considering other candidates.
Earlier, the media reported that Andoni Iraola remained the main candidate for the position of head coach of "Chelsea". "Porto" coach Francesco Farioli and "Como" head coach Cesc Fabregas rejected the offer of the "nobles".
It should be noted that "Chelsea" officially dismissed Liam Rosenior as head coach on April 22. Calum McFarlane has been appointed as the interim coach of the "Blues" until the end of the current season.
