The captain of the Uzbekistan national team, Eldor Shomurodov, spoke about stopping the fight after the group stage at the World Cup 2026.
Sport.Biz reports that the Asian representative lost all three games in their debut World Cup and failed to score any points. Shomurodov scored one goal in the tournament.
He stated that they have tested themselves at the World Cup level:
"Now we know our weaknesses. We tested ourselves at the World Cup level. The games against Colombia and Portugal will be remembered. If we scored zero points, then that's where we should be. Now the main thing is to develop. I apologize to the fans for not being able to please them."
Note that the Uzbekistan national team lost to DR Congo and Colombia with the same score - 1:3, and to Portugal - 0:5.
