Alfonso Davies, a defender for the Canada national football team, has achieved a special milestone at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Sport.Biz reports that he made his World Cup debut in the round of 16 match against South Africa.
Davies, who played in Canada's 1-0 win, became the 1000th player to participate in the 2026 World Cup.
Note that the defender missed the group stage to fully recover from an injury.
The Canadian national team will face the winner of the Netherlands-Morocco pair in the 1/8 finals.
