Barcelona's women's team captain Alexia Putellas has achieved a historic feat. She has surpassed the legendary Lionel Messi in terms of the number of trophies won with the Catalan team.
Idman.Biz reports that with Barcelona securing the Spanish championship (Liga F), Putellas has won her 36th title with the club. This sees her surpass Messi, who has 35 titles with Barça, becoming the club's most decorated player in history.
The Catalan representative celebrated their seventh consecutive and 11th overall championship. Currently, Barcelona's women's team is on track for a historic quadruple (winning four tournaments in one season). The team has already won the Spanish Super Cup and the national championship. Ahead, they face the finals of the Champions League and the Spanish Cup.
If victories are achieved in both tournaments, Alexia Putellas could end the season with 38 titles.
