Young Azerbaijani grandmaster Aydın Süleymanlı has significantly improved his position in the world ranking.
Idman.Biz reports that the International Chess Federation (FIDE) has announced the ranking of world chess players as of March 1.
According to the updated data, Aydın Süleymanlı, who added 25 points to his rating, has made great progress and his current score is 2653 points, which allowed him to rise from 99th to 62nd place. Thus, the chess player improved his position by 37 places directly.
As for other Azerbaijani chess players, Shahriyar Mammadyarov dropped from 19th to 27th place with a score of 2713 points. Teymur Rajabov is in 36th place with 2689 points. Eltaj Safarli is in 70th position with 2648 points, and Rauf Mammadov dropped to 85th place with a score of 2636.
In the women's ranking, Ulviyya Fataliyeva rose to 26th place with 2431 points. Gunay Mammadzada dropped to 67th place with 2374 points, Govhar Beydullayeva is in 84th place with 2358 points, and Khanim Balajayeva is in 93rd place with 2350 points.
It should be noted that the leader of the world ranking remains Norwegian Magnus Carlsen with 2840 points. He is followed by US representatives Hikaru Nakamura (2810) and Fabiano Caruana (2795).
The world women's ranking is led by Chinese Hou Yifan with 2596 points. In second place is Ju Wenjun (2578), and in third place is Lei Tingjie (2566).
